Job Description
As part of the global Corporate Risk and Insurance team, the Manager, Corporate Risk & Insurance is responsible for providing claims expertise to help minimize the cost and cash flow impact of accidental losses.
This includes identifying potential risks, managing claims processes, and supporting the funding of insurable risks. Another key mandate is reviewing contracts for insurance-related language in support of Procurement, as part of the Global Third-Party Risk Management group.
Additional responsibilities include supporting the insurance procurement and services function, including collaborating with brokers, insurers, and adjusters.
Key Accountabilities
Settlement of losses for all insurance programs (i.e. Auto, CGL, US Workers Compensation), including reporting the loss to the insurer, loss control advice, coverage interpretation and liaising with business units and providing instruction to adjuster and external counsel.
Support subrogation / recovery decisions and liaise with CLIENT legal and Lines of Business (LOBs) as needed.
Manage third party claims adjuster and ensure quality of service provided.
Review and audit third party adjuster files and meet defined reporting requirements.
Insurance contract language review and advice on vendor, lease and customer agreements.
Review and provide input into all corporate policies, corporate standards,
and policies and procedures relating to insurance and risk management aspects.
Provide internal and external customers with responsive, timely, professional service. General responsibilities for a broad and diverse set of activities in principal areas of insurance coverage, claims, risk control, insurance certificates, accounting, and administration.
Other duties assigned as needed.
Support Corporate Insurance department, as required on all aspects of department function.
Management of Third-Party Adjuster relationship including costs and periodic reviews of services and day to day activities.
Provide guidance on the claims process to business units in response to loss events.
Knowledge and Skills
University degree, and 5+ years of commercial insurance claims, risk & insurance management, or commercial insurance broker experience.
Completion and/or partial completion of the CIP/CRM designations preferred.
Practical knowledge and experience of claims handling in Canada & the US.
US Workers' Compensation experience/knowledge is an asset.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, Power Point.
Knowledge of accounting and financial analysis, claims management, and loss prevention.
Solid knowledge of insurance industry practices and risk management techniques.
Good communication, administration, negotiation, planning, thinking, motivation, and leadership skills.
