We are currently searching for an ambitious Financial Controller to lead the Finance Department Team. The controller will have full responsibility for budget management and financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
Your success within the role is reliant on an ambitious work ethic, excellent communication and proven ability to problem-solve across multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities
Produce accurate, timely consolidated financial statements, including WIP schedules, job‑cost reporting and margin analysis.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and construction‑specific accounting standards (e.g., revenue recognition under percentage‑of‑completion).
Improve visibility into project performance, cash flow, and forecasting
Manage all accounting functions including month‑end and year‑end financial reporting
Oversee all bank reconciliations for all divisions, coordinate activities of external auditors
Manage the budget process, evaluating accounting and internal control systems
Manage daily operations overseeing AP/AR, general ledger activity, and routine accounting workflows
Full responsibility for financial reporting to senior leadership team
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
Oversee cashflow, banking relationships, and financial controls
Review and approve payroll processing including taxable benefits, T4’s, T4 summary, and reconciliations
Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
Participate in the development of and support the Company’s strategic plans
Manage document control process & information technology
Develop and monitor business key performance indicators
Qualifications
Degree or certificate in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
Accounting designation (CMA, CGA, or CA) or working towards preferred
5+ years of experience in senior accounting or financial management role
Proven experience in job costing, WIP, and progress billing
Proficient in accounting tools like Sage 300, Maestro, Bid2Win, or Acumatica
Advanced Excel user (VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables
Knowledge of HST rules, payroll rules, government remittances, and GAAP
Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act and the Family Responsibility Office
Self‑motivated / self‑directed with strong analytical and organizational skills
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and customer service skills
Ability to work closely with a senior management team
Thrives in a quick‑paced, project‑based environment
