Big Viking Games is a live service game studio focused on operating and scaling enduring virtual worlds. We run profitable, long-life portfolio games with disciplined live operations, data-driven decision making, and a relentless focus on player experience and monetization performance. We’re also an AI-first studio. We believe the future of live ops is agentic, automated, and intelligent, and we’re actively building that future.
FishWorld is a multi-million dollar live service game with an extremely loyal, passionate player community that has stuck with the product for years. It’s profitable, it has proven economics, and it has a fanbase that most games would dream of. Now we’re ready to build FishWorld 2.0.
We’re looking for a Product Lead to run this business and take it to the next level. This is a P&L; ownership role. You will be directly responsible for the financial performance of the entire product: revenue, costs, margin, growth.
Your first mandate is driving revenue and running live operations at a high level. Your second is defining the ambitious product vision that expands what FishWorld is, who it reaches, and where it lives: mobile, desktop, web, and beyond. You’ll do this with a small, high-leverage team, which means you’ll need to be exceptionally AI-first in how you work. We don’t mean “comfortable using ChatGPT.” We mean building agents, automating live ops workflows, and using AI to do the work of a team three times your size. You’ll partner directly with senior leadership to push the boundaries of what AI-first live operations looks like in practice.
This role is part product owner, part general manager, part AI operator. If you’re the kind of person who gets excited about taking something that already works, running it like a business, and using AI to make it dramatically bigger, this is the role.
What You’ll Own
P&L; Ownership & Business Performance:
Full P&L; responsibility for FishWorld. Revenue, costs, margin, growth: it’s yours
Forecast and manage financial performance against targets
Make tradeoff decisions like a business owner: where to invest, where to cut, where to bet
Report on product performance to senior leadership with clarity and accountability
Revenue & Monetization:
Own and improve key metrics including ARPDAU, conversion rate, retention, and LTV
Design and optimize in‑game offers, bundles, pricing strategies, and promotions
Balance short‑term monetization with long‑term player trust and retention
Protect and grow revenue while the product evolves underneath it
Live Operations:
Operate a high‑frequency live operations calendar
Plan and execute events, promotions, and content releases
Continuously iterate based on player behavior and product performance
Maintain the cadence and quality that FishWorld’s loyal community expects
AI‑First Execution:
Build and deploy AI agents to automate live ops workflows, content scheduling, player segmentation, offer optimization, and other repeatable processes
Use AI tools aggressively across every part of your work: analysis, content creation, experimentation design, player communication, reporting
Partner with senior leadership to define and advance BVG’s approach to AI‑first live operations
Continuously identify opportunities where AI can replace manual work, accelerate decisions, or unlock capabilities a small team couldn’t otherwise have
This isn’t a nice‑to‑have. With a small team, your ability to multiply output through AI is how the math works
Product Vision & FishWorld 2.0:
Define and own the product roadmap for the next generation of FishWorld
Bring ambitious ideas for how the game evolves: new features, new audiences, recent platforms
Expand FishWorld to mobile, desktop, and additional web/social surfaces as part of the 2.0 vision
Build the go‑to‑market approach for reaching new players without alienating the existing community
Experimentation & Product Optimization:
Design hypothesis‑driven A/B tests
Use cohort analysis, retention analysis, and behavioral data to identify opportunities
Translate insights into measurable improvements in revenue and engagement
Test new product concepts and features with data, not just instinct
First‑Principles Product Thinking:
Break complex problems down into fundamental drivers
Identify root causes rather than surface symptoms
Clearly articulate problem → reasoning → solution → measurable outcome
Apply this thinking to both day‑to‑day optimization and big‑picture product strategy
Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
Lead a small, high‑output team. You’ll need to be hands‑on and resourceful
Collaborate across product, design, QA, analytics, engineering, and live operations
Balance commercial, creative, and technical priorities
Drive execution through sprint planning and operational cadence
Technical & Data Collaboration:
Partner closely with engineering and analytics teams
Use dashboards, experimentation frameworks, and internal tools to guide decisions
Work with engineering to solve technical challenges as FishWorld scales to recent platforms
Player Experience & Issue Resolution:
Manage live in‑game issues including bug prioritization and reimbursement strategy
Review and synthesize player feedback into actionable product improvements
Balance short‑term revenue optimization with long‑term player retention
Deeply understand what makes FishWorld’s community tick and protect that as the product evolves
Must‑Have Experience
8+ years of product management experience in games, consumer apps, or live digital products
Experience owning P&L; or full commercial responsibility for a product
Experience owning revenue, growth, or engagement metrics for a product with meaningful scale
Strong quantitative decision‑making skills
Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests or product experiments
Demonstrated ability to improve key metrics such as retention, conversion, engagement, or revenue
Experience leading cross‑functional teams across product, engineering, design, and analytics
Track record of defining and executing a product vision, not just optimizing an existing one
Comfort operating a live product while simultaneously planning its evolution
Deep AI fluency. You actively use AI tools in your daily work, you’ve built or deployed AI agents or automations, and you have strong opinions about where AI can transform product operations. This is a hard requirement, not a checkbox
Candidates Who Stand Out Typically Demonstrate
First‑principles product thinking
Transparent examples of product impact tied to measurable metrics
Experience operating live service or continuously evolving products
An ownership mentality: you think like a GM, not just a PM
The ability to hold two jobs at once: run the business today and build the business for tomorrow
Demonstrated examples of using AI to automate workflows, build agents, or multiply personal/team output
Strong analytical curiosity and technical affinity
Comfort working with a small team and wearing multiple hats
Nice to Have
Experience with mobile games or free‑to‑play monetization
Experience designing game economies or pricing systems
SQL or hands‑on data analysis experience
Experience operating large‑scale consumer products with passionate, vocal communities
Experience expanding a product to new platforms or new audiences
Familiarity with platform‑specific distribution mechanics (App Store, Google Play, Facebook, web portals)
Regular in‑person collaboration with a high‑performing, passionate team of gamers at our downtown Toronto office
High‑impact work on an established, revenue‑generating game entering a major new chapter
Direct P&L; ownership and senior leadership access from day one
An AI‑first environment where you’re encouraged (and expected) to push boundaries
Access to BVG tools, documentation, and support to do your best work
Potential for future contracts or longer‑term engagement, based on performance and business needs
