Visiting Medical Officer – General Practitioner – Anaesthetics
Griffith Base Hospital, Murrumbidgee Local Health District.

Responsibilities
The Visiting Medical Officer – General Practice Anaesthetics is required to provide contemporary comprehensive specialist services at Griffith Base Hospital. The VMO will provide a high level of clinical care to patients and participate in the on-call roster. The role includes participation in service and policy development, education, training and quality projects activities.

Location
Griffith Base Hospital is a 119-bed facility with 100 hospital care beds and 10 maternity beds. Each year the hospital supports approximately 19,500 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and 600 births.

Selection Criteria

Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Practitioner.

Experience and formal recognition as a Procedural General Practitioner with advanced skills and accreditation with the Joint Consultative Committee on Anaesthesia (JCCA) or equivalent.

Minimum three (3) years postgraduate clinical experience. Prior experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine,



Paediatrics or Rural Medicine is an advantage.

Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches to the assessment and management of a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing a range of minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.

Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.

Availability to participate in an on-call roster and respond on site within a reasonable time.
