Overview

Feeder Piping Analyst/Engineer position at Candu Energy Inc. (AtkinsRéalis). Permanent full‑time role based in Mississauga, Ontario. The role supports Life Extension Projects for CANDU reactor retube activities (Wolsong Units 2, 3 & 4; Cernavoda‑1; Qinshan Units 1 & 2 and others) and requires technical expertise in feeder piping, feeder supports and feeder in‑line components.

Responsibilities

- Perform engineering work following Candu Energy's QA programs, applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Understand and interpret technical documents such as engineering drawings, bill of materials, calculations, design specifications, design manuals and technical specifications for procurement, fabrication and installation.
- Prepare technical documents including design/analysis reports, design requirements, design descriptions, design decision documents, fabrication specifications and installation/removal specifications.
- Conduct thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear and non‑linear analyses in accordance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Division 1.
- Support the project team with the design and analysis of complex piping and support arrangements using finite element analysis software (ANSYS Mechanical and/or LS‑DYNA).
- Communicate with clients and suppliers to provide technical assistance and resolve technical queries.
- Prepare TSSA registration packages for pressure boundary modifications.
- Prepare requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials to support procurement.
- Review supplier technical documents.
- Provide technical guidance to designers,



drafters and junior staff as required.
- Perform site visits to client and supplier shops as required.
- Conduct field walk‑downs during different design phases as required.
- Support field construction and execution activities, including field changes, design revisions, commissioning, AFS, closeout and related tasks.
- Respond promptly with engineering resolutions on critical matters.
- Complete assigned scopes or tasks within given budget, schedule and quality requirements.

Qualifications

- Engineering degree in Mechanical from an accredited university or equivalent recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. in Ontario in the near future.
- Knowledge of ASME Appendix XXIII is considered an asset.
- 3–5 years of related mechanical engineering experience in a heavy industrial environment (nuclear, mining, oil & gas, power), with nuclear industry experience preferred.
- Experience in stress analysis of piping, pipe supports and other pressure‑boundary components for dead weight, thermal, fatigue and seismic conditions.




- Site experience in construction or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
- Experience in stress analysis using ANSYS Mechanical (APDL or Workbench) and/or LS‑DYNA.
- Design engineering experience in nuclear Class 1/2/3 piping systems for nuclear power plants is preferred.
- Working knowledge of CSA N285.0, CSA B51, CSA N289 and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), Section III codes and related standards.
- Excellent technical and practical skills to resolve engineering issues or technical problems.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and nuclear piping systems or equipment.
- Knowledge of CANDU nuclear systems is an asset.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Willingness to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW), though not a regular requirement.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
