Department: Facilities Management – Planning, Redevelopment & Operations
Reports to: Manager, Facilities Operation
Shift: Mon - Fri (8:00am - 4:00pm); on-call requirement 24/7
Salary: $81,505 to $110,000 annually (Commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN Compensation Policy)
Status: Permanent Full-Time

Key Responsibilities
Direct and control the activities and quality of services provided.
Coordinate workloads, assign work duties and tasks, check, inspect and monitor activities of assigned employees.
Complete employee evaluations for assigned employees on a schedule determined by the Hospital utilizing a diversified workforce.
Backfill Manager, Facility Operations when required.
Review work in progress, check and inspect as necessary for conformance to job specifications and with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal requirements, regulations and standards; instruct personnel when performance does not comply with standards.
Provide direct supervision to front line staff.
Perform quality, financial, planning, personnel development and corporate management responsibilities.
Maintain compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations; report hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act in a timely manner.
Qualifications
At minimum, completion of a 2‑year community college program leading to a trade certification in Electrical, Millwright, Carpentry, Plumbing or recognized.
TSSA Class 2 Operating Engineer certification or greater is mandatory.
Five (5) years of supervisory / managerial experience.
Minimum 4 years of practical and related experience.
Excellent analytical, problem‑resolution, labor relations,
collective agreement and union workforce management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of maintaining multiple communication channels.
Ability to implement sustainable change, coordinate many activities concurrently, handle emergency and/or crisis situations effectively and efficiently, use all tools/equipment common to the trades and perform the physical requirements of department staff positions for training and demonstration purposes.
Memberships: Canadian Healthcare Engineering Society (CHES), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), Institute of Facilities Management Association (IFMA), American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) preferred.
Working knowledge of Hospital accreditation requirements, industry standards, Hospital policies and procedures, financial control principles, Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Infection Prevention and Control Standards and environmental waste management regulations.
Computer literate in Microsoft Office; ability to generate spreadsheets and reports; create straightforward drawings with Microsoft Visio or equivalent; ability to read blueprints, technical drawings and manuals; AutoCAD would be beneficial.
