Location: Cambridge, ON, Canada. Travel: up to 70% of the time, up to four (4) weeks at a time.

Job Summary The Service Technician performs work on wind and industrial gearboxes, main shafts, couplings, spare parts, and related components both in the shop and in the field. The technician provides technical expertise at customer sites, adding to or preserving the value of customer assets through efficient execution of service orders and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks Job Planning and Preparation Participate in planning for assigned jobs, including gathering and preparing tools, PPE, parts, and other items required.
Package and coordinate with the assigned planner to ensure all required items are received at the proper time and place.
Make transportation and lodging arrangements and notify Field Service Lead for the job.
Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSA) prior to every new job.
Be present at the worksite, prepared and ready to work at the agreed‑upon time.
Manage travel delays and communicate changes in travel plans with the job Lead.
Follow all travel‑related policies.

Field and Shop Service Activities Perform endoscope inspections, visual inspections, and similar diagnostic procedures on gearboxes and components on wind and industrial units at customer sites.
Repair, remove,



and/or install gearboxes and components on wind and industrial units at customer sites (main shafts, pitch tubes, gears, bearings, gating accessories, brake assemblies, shrink disks, lubrication and filter systems, module sections).
Provide supplementary services for customers as assigned by the job Lead.
Assist with and support similar responsibilities and tasks in a workshop setting and in the field.

Safety, Tools, and Equipment Inspect, properly maintain, and safely operate all PPE, material‑handling equipment, vehicles, rigging, and tools prior to and after every use.
Follow all equipment procedures and notify the job Lead or Field Service Manager of missing, broken, or otherwise inadequate resources.
Maintain full awareness of surroundings and potential job hazards.
Report all incidents and near‑misses.
Observe all safety procedures and practices and maintain a safe working environment at heights.

Documentation and Customer Requirements Complete and submit all job‑related documents, reports, and administrative processes accurately and in a timely manner.
Diligently record all work performed and parts used.
Follow all customer and job‑specific procedures regarding site check‑in, check‑out, training, reporting, wrap‑up, incident reports, and other similar requirements of working at a site.

Required Education and Experience Grade 12 or equivalent GED.
Competencies and Skills Technical competency in gearbox failure analysis, diagnosis, repair procedures, installation and removal.
Ability to maintain professional communications and boundaries while managing complex situations.
Advanced knowledge of data collection and report writing; effective analysis and synthesis of numeric and technical data.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Advanced computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Skype for Business, Office 365, and other office programs).
Ability to take initiative, operate calmly under pressure, be an effective team member, and contribute to overall team success.
Ability to build and maintain relationships across departments and manage projects and tasks with others at distant work sites.
Physical Demands Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Lift and carry up to 70 lbs. for extended periods.
Climb and descend ladders up to 360 feet.
Stand, crouch, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Operate a computer up to 8 hours per day.
Perform visual inspections, read small print, discern colors, and maintain visual awareness of environmental hazards.
Other Requirements Consistent attendance and punctuality.
Travel from home location up to 70% of the time, up to 4 weeks at a time.
Work a flexible on‑call schedule as needed (weekends, weeknights, holidays).
Negative result on all pre‑employment, reasonable‑basis, and post‑accident drug screens.
Acceptable driving record per Flender’s insurance provider.
Personal automobile insurance on any personal vehicle used for business purposes.
