Position: Special Education Teacher

Building:

Middle/High School

Preferred Qualifications:
Must hold a valid Michigan Teacher Certification
Special Education Certificate required
Endorsement in one area of special education
Meets Michigan Highly Qualified requirement

Applicants should demonstrate solid instructional practices, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with staff and actively participate in school programs and activities both inside and outside the classroom.

Job Responsibilities:
Develop and implement lesson plans to provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt to the curriculum student needs and goals.




Create a positive and engaging leaning setting that supports student growth and achievement.
Develop and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that promote measurable student growth.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress toward IEP goals.
Teach and mentor students in whole class, small group, and one-on-one settings.
Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings.
Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff to help students succeed.
