Director, Data Management & Analytics
The Director, Data Management & Analytics will lead Enterprise data architecture and data management.

Reporting to the Executive Director, IT Operations, this role has ownership of the data strategy and operating model with a focus on client, case, and financial data metrics. This role will also play a key role in establishing and advancing the Firm’s AI and data governance framework, ensuring that data used in analytics and AI-driven solutions is well-governed, secure, ethical, and aligned with regulatory and Firm standards.

This role is expected to be a change agent, innovator and translator who will bring exceptional leadership skills and the ability to drive sustainable change and improvement. They will work closely with enterprise-wide leaders and stakeholders and provide thought leadership and support to help provide high quality digital data across the Firm’s assets, content and experiences and ensure it is aligned to business priorities and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Management & Data Governance

Accountable for ensuring a clear data governance framework is in place, including defining data quality standards, establishing processes to address data quality issues, and supporting governance for data used in AI and advanced analytics solutions

Ensure the roles and responsibilities of data owners, stewards, and custodians are clearly defined and that they comply with established data standards, protocols, and governance requirements, including those related to AI data usage and model inputs

Ensure data management policies and procedures are up to date, clearly communicated, and supported by processes that safeguard adherence, including policies governing the responsible, ethical, and compliant use of data in AI initiatives

Make certain there is a process for identifying and managing data security risks, including risks related to AI models, training data, and automated decision-making systems

Establish and support AI data governance practices, ensuring that data used to train, test, and operate AI solutions is properly governed, documented, and aligned with regulatory, ethical, and Firm standards

Partner with Technology Service teams to deliver a scalable next-generation data business architecture, data management capabilities, and data tools and processes to support the continued digitization of the business and the responsible adoption of AI

Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, actionable insights,



and accurate testing and results for both analytics and AI-driven initiatives

Foster a data-driven culture and the creation of related competencies and data literacy across the organization, including awareness of AI data governance and responsible data use

Champion data and analytics value creation and governance as strategic disciplines, including the governance of AI data assets and model lifecycle data requirements

Develop, lead, and drive the implementation and operationalization of specific data use cases that align with business priorities and capability-building needs, including opportunities leveraging advanced analytics and AI

Reporting & Insights

Collaborate with lawyers and stakeholders across business services, building relationships and identifying opportunities to leverage analytics, AI-enabled insights, and dashboards to enhance firm strategies and operations, support legal service delivery, and provide value to clients

Support the day-to-day business insights needs through timely and multiple channel delivery of existing and enhanced reporting to the businesses and central teams; decommission legacy reports

Work with Technology and the Enterprise teams to build next-generation reporting solutions, including automation, AI-assisted analytics, and visualization of reporting

Ensure data visualizations are clear, concise, and effective and consistent with Company brand guidelines

Build a reporting and business insights capability to support the needs of the business (pricing, business development, talent, and financial reporting), including advanced and predictive analytics capabilities

Assess existing reporting processes and tools and investigate new opportunities to enhance reporting capabilities through advanced analytics, machine learning, and automation

Leverage big data, advanced analytics, data insights to support development/execution of strategy

Oversee the development of deliverable templates and delivery process: dashboards, reporting, analysis and recommendations

Ensure there is a process for creating and distributing reports and analyses,



plus how reports are managed and evolved through release management

Ensure third-party analytics and AI platforms conform to the firm’s data governance, AI governance, data standards, and service level requirements

Ensure there is a process for driving improved business intelligence, including predictive analytics and AI-driven insights, while ensuring appropriate oversight and validation of analytical models

Ensure KPIs and performance metrics aligned with organizational goals and Standardized across the enterprise to ensure data is consistently applied and interpreted throughout the firm.

Data storage, retention and integration

Develop and communicate a refreshed data retention policy outlining storage, archive, integration, and disposal processes managed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations

Develop systems to ensure compliance

Required Skill & Experience

Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities, ability to consolidate information into explicit, concise analysis in support of business decisions, including insights from AI-driven analytics

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, managing to results in a respectful and inclusive environment

Significant experience on enterprise data architecture, security with an understanding ofdown/upstream data workflows, systems, and business processes

Domain expertise in data management, AI and data governance, reporting, and analytics

Strong financial management skills and fluency with the financial aspects of business operations

Independent thought leadership and the ability to understand and navigate the complexities and implications of executing the strategy, including AI adoption and advanced analytics initiatives

Ability to influence at senior executive levels and motivate others, including those who do not have a direct reporting relationship

Experience or knowledge of data requirements in the professional services industry, an asset

Organizational awareness & the ability to balance the viewpoints of various stakeholders

This is a senior role with high expectations; the ideal candidate should have 10+ years of relevant leadership and business experience in data management, analytics, AI-enabled insights, customer insights, and strategic transformation

Undergraduate or Post Graduate degree ie. MBA in Business/Commerce or Data Analysis / Data Engineering would be an asset
