Position Overview
As Door Security at Hudsons, you’re the first and last impression our guests have. You set the tone for their entire visit welcoming them in, keeping the environment safe and fun, and sending them off right. This role blends front‑of‑house hospitality with responsible door management, and it’s central to what makes a Hudsons shift run smoothly.

Skills & Qualifications

Valid ProTect certification (required) demonstrating knowledge of safe venue management and security practices

Valid ProServe certification (required) demonstrating responsible alcohol service in accordance with AGLC regulations

A genuine, people‑first attitude you take pride in making every guest feel welcome, not just processed

Strong verbal communication skills; ability to engage warmly with a wide range of guests across different moods and situations

Confidence in delivering difficult messages (refused entry, wait times, last call) with tact and professionalism

Experience in hospitality, customer service, or a similar public‑facing role is a strong asset

Calm under pressure with the ability to assess a situation quickly, make sound decisions, and act without hesitation when needed





Strong situational awareness and the ability to read a room and identify potential issues before they become problems

Solid understanding of provincial liquor laws and the legal responsibilities of venue security staff

Conflict de‑escalation skills; firm when necessary, professional always

Physical ability to stand for extended periods and respond quickly if a situation demands it

A collaborative team player who communicates clearly with management, FOH, and other security staff throughout the shift

Punctual and dependable — your team counts on you to show up ready to go, especially on high‑volume nights

Strong attention to detail, particularly when checking ID and documenting incidents

A positive, level‑headed presence that contributes to the overall energy of the shift

Adaptable to work effectively as a team member in an ever‑changing environment.

Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.

Flexibility to work late nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Duties & Responsibilities

Greet and welcome every guest at the door with a professional, friendly demeanor that reflects the Hudsons brand

ID anyone who appears to be 25 years of age or under,



verifying valid government‑issued ID and ensuring all guests are of legal drinking age before entry

Set up and maintain the line‑up area before and during service according to Hudsons store standards

Manage guest entry flow, monitoring capacity and coordinating with management on any restrictions

Actively observe the venue throughout your shift identifying and addressing unsafe behavior early before situations escalates

Communicate with the management team using a radio code system for any identified problems and in an ongoing manner

De‑escalate conflicts calmly and professionally, using sound judgment to determine when a situation requires management or external support

Refuse entry or remove guests who are intoxicated, disruptive, or pose a risk to staff or other guests, following Hudsons protocols and provincial liquor legislation

Conduct regular floor and perimeter walks and washroom checks to monitor the overall setting and flag any concerns

Document incidents accurately and promptly as required, including any refusals of entry, removals, or notable events

Thank every guest as they leave and wish them a great night
