Field Service Operations - Superintendent Engineer

Summary
Supervise troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of diesel engines, turbochargers and related equipment on seagoing vessels and power plants, providing technical advice, training and service support to customers.

Roles and Responsibilities

Provide technical service installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, overhauls and modernization for engines and turbochargers manufactured by the company and its affiliates.

Offer technical advice and training; manage follow‑up service program information for previously serviced vessels.

Direct and supervise work by external contractors on engine repairs.

Assist workshops with technical matters, collect receivables, and maintain effective business relations with all customers.

Innovate and develop new products.

Travel extensively by car, train, plane, launch boat or helicopter as required, adapting to changing qualified circumstances.

Maintain strong client communication while performing all duties.

Implement internal technical modifications and updates.

Manage projects at all organizational levels.

Complete and upload service reports within two days of job completion.

Return tools in good condition.

Perform any other duties assigned.

File and organize documents in appropriate folders.

Adhere to all internal MAN rules and regulations.

Required Education

University degree in Engineering with related work experience, or




comparable vocational education with extensive work experience.

Required Experience

Four or more years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Skills

Basic knowledge and interest in control systems and electronic, pneumatic/hydraulic systems.

Sound knowledge of 4‑stroke and 2‑stroke engines, turbochargers, and propellers.

First aid certification.

Crane and forklift training.

Safety training courses.

Physical Requirements

Ability to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; lift up to 100 pounds.

Work in wet, humid, hot conditions; near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places.

Operate in engine rooms with running engines, high temperatures, humidity, vibrations, and loud noises.

Enjoy practical and manual work; mechanical aptitude.

Willingness to travel, work overnight and on weekends.

Understand and practice safe working methods under ISO standards and continuous improvement.

Communicate well at all organizational levels; leadership and teamwork skills.

Problem‑solving and conflict resolution abilities.

Self‑motivated, results‑oriented with a proven track record; positive, can‑do attitude.

Team player; honest, loyal, adaptable to adaptable and dependable service for customers and colleagues.
