Role
The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for small and large-scale residential and municipal projects. This role requires expertise in evaluating bid specifications, performing take-offs, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure competitive and profitable bids. The Senior Estimator will play a critical role in the preconstruction phase, providing key insights into project costs, risks, and opportunities.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all estimating services, tender submissions, and proposals including preparation and assembly of all required information and documentation. Draw on other resources as required and as appropriate.

Review project documents thoroughly to analyze scope, technical requirements, and subcontractor needs.

Assemble accurate, timely, and well-organized estimates, including lump sum, unit rate, and design-build pursuits.

Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits to clarify scope of work and identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present.

Lead or participate in bid closings, ensuring all submissions are accurate, timely, and competitive.





Support post-tender activities, including clarifications, submissions, and negotiations.

Interface with owners on bid development inquiries and estimate clarifications requests.

Execute bid forms including the submission of all security, bonding, and insurance requirements.

Summarize quantities; prepare spreadsheets for alternate and separate prices as required for tenders.

Review, analyze and check for completeness of proposal documents.

Prepare post-bid analysis and tender results summaries.

Maintain and continuously update databases of labor rates, material pricing, and project cost and production histories.

Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures that are developing in the industry.

Identify new project leads through relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

Leverage deep understanding of the Calgary construction market to secure strategic opportunities.

Mentor and train junior staff members.

Additional duties as assigned.

Skills & Education

Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.

5-7 years of experience with civil, infrastructure, and reclamation projects considered a strong asset.

Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Bluebeam Revu.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.

Collaborative team player with a positive, professional attitude.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

A valid Class 5 license is required.

Expected Compensation Range
$95,000 – $115,000.
