About the chance
This position provides implementation, administration, support, monitoring and maintenance of SQL Database environments across multiple cloud environments. The candidate will join the Cloud Database Engineering team responsible for timely resolution of issues that impact database server usability, ensuring systems are sized, built, and configured for optimal operation.
What you’ll get to do
Provide administration and support for mission‑critical and pre‑production database environments
Design and implement Azure cloud databases, high‑availability solutions, replication, encryption, and disaster recovery solutions
Perform migration of on‑premises databases to the Azure Cloud using SQL on VM, SQL MI, and Azure SQL Database
Perform and manage daily database maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning tasks
Provide technical leadership through example, develop innovation, strategies, processes, and best practices
Manage database disaster recovery for all database environments, including SQL backup policies
Identify and document performance and scaling improvements for development teams
Assist in the design and implementation of security, auditing, and integrity controls
Benchmark, analyze, report on, and recommend improvements for the SQL transactional replication infrastructure
Guide junior DBAs
Provide 24x7 on‑call administration and support
Skills and experience we value
At least 8+ years of recent experience maintaining and administrating mission‑critical database environments
Experience in large enterprise production environments with high transaction volume
SQL Server 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2025
Cloud database solutions including SQL on VM, SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database
NoSQL database technologies such as MongoDB and Cosmos DB
Data streaming and caching technologies such as Kafka and Redis
PowerShell and Azure CLI
Automation of processes to improve efficiency
Database triaging, tuning and monitoring
Database design and application development life cycle
Expertise in troubleshooting, problem solving and initiative
Excellent planning, time management, documentation skills
Expert in T‑SQL, SQL Profiler, and PowerShell
Expert in SQL monitoring tools such as SQL Sentry and DBA Dash
Experience managing Human Capital Management SaaS database systems
Adapts to changing priorities
Must communicate effectively with distributed team members
Works well individually and within a team
Conducts research into database issues and products and presents ideas in a business‑appropriate, user‑friendly language
