HMSHost is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner I (Temporary - 1 Year Term) at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to support operations within a dynamic airport-based environment. This role is responsible for executing HR policies, procedures, and people strategies as directed by the People & Culture leadership team, while partnering closely with Operations leaders to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead HR activities for an airport or cluster of locations (under 600 team members) within Food & Beverage operations

Manage the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, development, retention, and offboarding

Serve as a trusted advisor to Operations leaders on HR policies, employee relations, engagement, and performance matters

Provide HR policy guidance and ensure consistent interpretation across teams

Partner with regional leadership to analyze workforce trends and recommend strategic HR solutions

Manage employee relations issues proactively, including investigations and documentation

Support labour relations activities including grievances, arbitrations, and contract administration

Ensure compliance with company policies, employment legislation, and internal standards

Promote a positive workplace culture focused on engagement, learning, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

5+ years of HR experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

2–4 years in a leadership or HR generalist/HRBP capacity preferred

Experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or retail environments preferred





Unionized environment experience strongly preferred

Strong knowledge of HR functions including employee relations, recruitment, training, compensation, and benefits

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills

Ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism and discretion

Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR systems (HRIS)

Additional Information

This is a 1-year temporary position

Requires in office presence at assigned location(s) 5 days per week

May require up to 50% travel
