Role Description

We are looking for a versatile machinist who enjoys working on a variety of equipment, from conventional manual machines to modern CNC machining centers.

This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable operating manual mills and lathes while also assisting with CNC machining as production demands. No two days are the same—you may be repairing components, producing one-off parts, running short production jobs, or supporting maintenance activities throughout the shop.

The successful candidate is adaptable, safety-conscious, takes pride in quality workmanship, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative manufacturing team.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

Machining

- Operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, and other conventional equipment.
- Set up and operate CNC machining centers as required.
- Manufacture parts from engineering drawings while maintaining dimensional accuracy.
- Perform first-off inspections and verify completed parts meet specifications.
- Select appropriate tooling, workholding, and measuring equipment.
- Deburr and finish parts prior to inspection or assembly.

Daily Shop Operations





- Move between manual and CNC equipment as shop priorities change.
- Assist with one-off jobs, prototype work, and short production runs.
- Support general machine shop activities as required.
- Work with the Machine Shop Supervisor to meet production priorities.
- Help maintain an organized, efficient, and safe work environment.
- Participate in continuous improvement and 5S initiatives.

Equipment Care

- Perform routine machine maintenance.
- Monitor coolant, lubrication systems, and machine condition.
- Report equipment concerns before they become major issues.
- Assist with machine setups and changeovers.

Quality

- Read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.;
- Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment.
- Maintain quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
- Complete work accurately with minimal supervision.

Health & Safety

- Follow company safety procedures and OHSA requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Use PPE and safe machining practices at all times.

What You'll Be Working On

- Prototype machining
- One-off custom parts
- Small production runs
- Machine repairs and maintenance
- Process improvement projects




- Manual machining
- CNC machining

No two days are exactly the same.

Qualifications

- Licensed General Machinist or Tool & Die Maker (or equivalent apprenticeship).
- Minimum 5 years of machining experience.
- Robust experience operating conventional manual machines.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.;
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to switch between manual and CNC work based on shop priorities.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $71,000
