Senior Electrical Engineer & Team Lead – the role supports the development of the electrical and communication interface of Kepler’s satellite to advanced internal and customer‑designed payloads. The engineer will develop hardware solutions, work closely with RF, mechanical, software, and FPGA teams, and deliver complete product solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Team Lead Responsibilities
Accountable for a small number of direct reports, conducting regular 1:1s, and managing time‑off and time‑tracking approvals.
Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for team members.
Ensure team members perform at a high level and complete performance reviews in alignment with company processes.
Support team members and foster strong collaboration within the team.
Engineering Responsibilities
Develop and own hardware solutions that utilize leading technology and practices.
Lead design reviews for active designs to minimize gaps.
Conduct and document engineering analyses including derating, reliability, radiation, EMI/EMC, FMECA, and power budgets.
Contribute to best practices and development of internal standards.
Execute development of future satellite generations, helping push the boundaries of space communications.
Maintain technical documentation capturing design decisions, specifications, block diagrams, interface requirements, and system architecture reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
5+ years of hardware design experience (schematic and layout).
Lead development of multi‑board systems and handle electrical interface planning and definition.
Experience with schematic and layout of processors, FPGAs, SoCs, DAC/ADCs, or other high‑speed digital components.
Familiar with memories such as QSPI, UFS, DDR3/4, and eMMC.
Experience with high‑speed interface design and routing, including JESD204B and 10G Ethernet.
Experience with clock generation, PLLs, jitter cleaning, clock distribution, and timing stability concepts.
Ability to work in a rapid‑learning/agile environment where requirements evolve.
Own a project from architecture through design validation.
Comfortable in a lab workplace and experienced with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, and VNAs.
Robust communication skills and ability to produce thorough design documentation.
Bonus Points
Experience in aerospace or high‑reliability environments.
Experience designing hardware/systems for radiation environments.
Low‑level electrical design, high‑speed layout expertise.
Experience with Altium.
