Position Overview
The Nisga'a School District is seeking an Elementary Teacher to work at Alvin A. McKay Elementary School. The anticipated assignment is Grade 2/3; the final assignment will be determined based on current student enrollment and school organizational needs. The role is carried out within a learning environment grounded in culture, community, and connection to the land and includes contributing to reconciliation through respectful integration of Nisga'a and Indigenous perspectives in teaching and learning, supported through collaboration, professional learning, and relationships with community.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with BC curriculum and learning standards.
Use assessment to inform instruction and support learner growth over time.
Create inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environments that support the wellbeing and success of all learners.
Build positive, respectful relationships with learners, families, and colleagues.
Engage in skilled learning and collaborative practices to support effective teaching and learning.
Required Qualifications
Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligibility).
Legally permitted to work in Canada.
Experience delivering instruction in Grades 2-3.
Knowledge of the BC Curriculum, including learning standards and core competencies.
