What This Role Is All About
We’re looking for a proactive and organized Building Manager to oversee the daily operations of one of our managed properties, 1045 Haro. In this role, you’ll lead the in office team, coordinate building maintenance and tenant services, and ensure the property is performing at its best. You’ll be the primary point of contact for tenants and contractors, and the go-to person for ensuring the building runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. As a service-driven organization operating seven days a week, this site-based role requires flexibility in scheduling to support the needs of the building. As such, the schedule includes weekend work, either on a rotating basis or as a consistent requirement. Candidates must be available and comfortable working weekends.

What You’ll Be Doing

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the building, ensuring all systems and services are functioning effectively

Conduct regular inspections of common areas, mechanical rooms, and exterior spaces

Coordinate and support preventive and corrective maintenance with internal staff and third-party contractors

Manage tenant service requests with responsiveness, professionalism, and care.

Serve as the primary on-site contact for resident concerns or complaints, taking the time to listen actively, ask clarifying questions, and respond with empathy, professionalism, and Uncommon Care.

Assess the complexity of each issue to determine appropriate next steps, escalating to the Property Manager when needed.

Ensure compliance with all building regulations, safety standards,



and company policies

Participate in budgeting and cost control related to building operations, supplies, and maintenance

Support move-in/move-out processes and assist with unit turnovers as required

Maintain accurate records using CMMS or other digital platforms

Act as the main in office contact for emergency response and after-hours issues (including participation in an on-call rotation)

Represent Chard and the building’s ownership group in a professional, respectful, and service-oriented manner

What You’ll Bring

5+ years of experience in building operations or property management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role

Rental Property Manager licence (or eligibility to obtain one) through the BCFSA is considered an asset.

Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems

Experience managing staff and third-party vendors or contractors

Experience using Yardi, Grata or other similar software

Strong customer service orientation, especially in residential or mixed-use environments

Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, reporting tools)

Building operator designation or trade certification is an asset

Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (if required)

Salary Range
The salary range for this role is $70,000–$80,000 annually, based on experience. Optional live-in accommodation is available. Employees who elect the live-in option will receive a salary of $70,000 plus the applicable rental discount.
