Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Engineer

Role Description
The OCI Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environments with a focus on networking, security, hybrid connectivity, automation, and multi-cloud governance.

Key Responsibilities
OCI Infrastructure Design & Deployment

Design and deploy OCI infrastructure components including:

Virtual Cloud Networks (VCNs)

Subnets

Security Lists

Network Security Groups (NSGs)

Route Tables

Internet Gateways

NAT Gateways

Deploy and manage OCI compute resources:

Compute Instances

Block Volumes

Object Storage

Load Balancers

Hybrid Cloud Connectivity

Configure OCI Dynamic Routing Gateways (DRGs)

Manage OCI FastConnect circuits for hybrid connectivity

Support connectivity integrations with:

Azure ExpressRoute

AWS environments

Implement multi-cloud connectivity architectures

Network Security & Segmentation

Manage active-passive FortiGate Network Virtual Appliance (NVA) deployments in OCI Hub VCN

Configure traffic inspection and east-west network segmentation

Implement spoke VCN architectures using:

VCN Peering

DRG Attachments

Workload isolation strategies

Identity & Access Management

Configure and manage OCI IAM components including:

Compartments

Groups

Dynamic Groups

Policy Statements

Implement secure access controls following cloud security best practices

Monitoring & Logging

Configure OCI observability services:

OCI Logging

OCI Monitoring

OCI Events

Implement alerting and operational monitoring solutions

Support OCI Heavy Forwarder VM deployments for Splunk log forwarding to AWS

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

Develop and maintain Terraform-based OCI infrastructure automation

Create reusable Terraform modules for OCI resource provisioning

Support automated and consistent infrastructure deployments

Documentation & Governance





Maintain:

Architecture documentation

Network diagrams

Technical runbooks

Multi-cloud governance artifacts

Collaborate with cloud, security, and infrastructure teams

Essential Skills

6–8 years of cloud infrastructure experience

4+ years of hands‑on OCI production experience

Strong knowledge of OCI Networking including:

VCN

DRG

FastConnect

Security Lists

NSGs

Route Tables

Strong understanding of OCI IAM including:

Compartments

Groups

Dynamic Groups

Policies

Hands‑on experience with FortiGate or other NVA deployments in OCI

Solid Terraform experience for OCI infrastructure automation

Experience with OCI services:

Compute

Block Volume

Object Storage

Load Balancing

Experience with hybrid cloud architectures:

OCI + Azure

OCI + AWS

Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills

Preferred Certifications

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Associate

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

Experience with Oracle Interconnect for Microsoft Azure

Experience with Splunk Heavy Forwarder deployments on OCI

Knowledge of OCI Data Science services

Knowledge of OCI AI/ML services

Desirable Skills
