The Kitasoo Xai'xais Nation is a First Nations government organization located in Klemtu, a remote community on the Central Coast of British Columbia, Canada. The Nation administers a wide range of community programs, including Indian Registry, Social Development, Health Services, Education, Stewardship, Salmon Enhancement, Housing, and Public Works. Role Description

The Housing Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Klemtu, BC, responsible for overseeing all aspects of community housing operations and services. Day-to-day tasks include managing housing applications and tenant files, coordinating maintenance and repairs, and ensuring housing units meet safety and quality standards. The Housing Manager develops and implements housing policies and procedures in alignment with Nation priorities and applicable regulations, prepares budgets and monitors expenditures, and manages housing-related reporting and documentation. The role collaborates with public works, finance, and leadership to plan housing projects, support long-term asset management, and communicate clearly with residents about housing concerns, expectations, and available supports.





Qualifications

- Candidates should possess solid housing administration and property management skills, including maintenance coordination, tenancy oversight, and asset tracking.
- Candidates should possess financial and organizational skills, such as budgeting, record-keeping, scheduling, and basic project management.
- Candidates should possess communication and interpersonal skills, including clear written and verbal communication, conflict resolution, and the ability to build respectful relationships with community members and partners.
- Candidates should possess skills in policy interpretation and compliance, with the ability to apply housing-related guidelines, health and safety standards, and relevant regulations.
- Candidates should possess general office and technology skills, including proficiency with email, word processing, spreadsheets, and database or housing management software.
- Post‑secondary education in business administration, property management, public administration, or a related field is an asset; equivalent experience in housing or community services will be considered.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities or in a remote setting is an asset, along with cultural awareness and a commitment to respectful, community‑centered service.
- Ability to relocate to and live in Klemtu, BC, and to work on‑site on a regular schedule.
