Legal Assistant — Labour & Employment (Fully Remote, Ontario)
An established labour & employment litigation firm is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to support two lawyers in a busy, plaintiff-side practice. This is a fully remote position and we welcome candidates located anywhere in Ontario, with the option to work from an office if preferred.
This is an administrative-heavy, client-facing role. We are looking for a proactive, organized team player who is eager to learn how the firm operates and can adapt to the different working styles of the legal representatives they support.
What you'll do
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Proofreading, compiling, filing, and serving court documents
- Booking mediations, examinations, and pre-trials
- Editing correspondence and forwarding to opposing counsel, clients, and others
- Managing calendars and booking calls for the lawyers
- Providing general administrative support and coverage as needed
What you bring
- 2-5 years of experience in plaintiff-side civil litigation (employment law experience preferred)
- Working knowledge of the civil litigation process, including the Rules of Civil Procedure at the Ontario Superior Court and Small Claims Court levels
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- A proactive, forward-thinking approach
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team, prioritize competing demands, and meet urgent deadlines
Compensation and benefits
- Salary of $52,000–$65,000, commensurate with experience
