Lead Base Area Operator

Location: Whistler, BC, Canada

Shift Type: Winter Seasonal 2026/2027 (Full Time hours available)

Job Summary

The Base Area Operations (BAO) Lead will oversee all departmental functions and employees, including cleaning, roads and parking, and snow removal. The Lead reports directly to the department Assistant and Manager.

Job Specifications

- Starting Wage: $22.00/hr - $26.88/hr.
- Employment Type: Winter Seasonal 2026/2027.
- Minimum Age: 18 years.
- Housing Availability: Yes.

Job Responsibilities

- Supervise frontline crews including orientation, training, conflict resolution, operational planning, maintenance of tools, daily meetings, and one‑on‑ones with Lead Hands.
- Promote team spirit and exhibit friendly, cooperative relationships with guests, staff, and other departments.
- Handle routine matters with initiative and make quick, thoughtful judgments in emergencies.
- Operate and understand all aspects of cleaning, road & parking, and snow clearing operations.
- Collaborate with department teams across the mountain as part of a large, diverse team.
- Relay work orders, respond to complaints, maintain preventive maintenance programs, and monitor cleaning quality, reporting to higher management.




- Assist with organization of waste/recycling depots and bear‑proof bins.
- Document all frontline duties and report incidents or damage involving company vehicle/equipment.
- Ensure adherence to operational and safety procedures for vehicles and equipment (e.g., snowplow, snow blower, bobcat).
- Assist with selection, training, and development of staff, exceeding current standards.
- Understand maintenance procedures for all janitorial equipment.
- Set an excellent example and strive to improve safety, service, and job satisfaction.

Job Requirements

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office platforms.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work under pressure with a keen eye for detail.

- Strong communication skills.
- Must complete a satisfactory criminal record check.
- Operating a vehicle is essential; must meet WB Driver’s Standards Policy – valid BC driver’s license and clean abstract.

Preferred Qualifications

- Post‑secondary education is an asset.
- Proven leadership skills, planning ability, and vision.
- Previous cleaning experience and employment is a solid asset.
- First Aid trained is an asset.
- Mental Health First Aid trained is an asset.
