The Role
At Horizon, people are at the heart of everything we do. Our people have helped make us the successful, values-led organisation we are today. As we continue to develop our services, we want to attract people who share our commitment to excellent customer experience, robust communities and positive outcomes for tenants.
This is a key frontline role within our Housing and Communities team. You will help deliver excellent customer experience, sustain tenancies and support thriving communities by combining sound housing management practice with a proactive, values-led approach.
As Housing Officer, you will deliver a high-quality,
customer-focused housing management service for applicants, tenants, sharing owners and factored owners within a defined geographical patch. You will take ownership of tenancy sustainment, arrears prevention and recovery, neighbourhood management, lettings and customer engagement, working in line with Horizon’s policies, performance targets and service standards. Success in the role means customers receive clear communication, early support and consistent follow-through; tenancies are sustained wherever possible; performance targets are met; and learning from feedback is used to improve the service.
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service and making a positive difference to people’s lives. You will have a good standard of education, strong written and verbal communication skills, and either hold a CIH Level 3 Housing qualification or be willing to work towards achieving it.
You will bring experience across a broad range of housing management responsibilities, including tenancy sustainment, rent arrears prevention and recovery, void management, estate management, tenant participation and responding to anti-social behaviour. A good understanding of housing legislation, Housing Benefit, Universal Credit and the wider issues affecting housing is essential.
You will be committed to delivering an outstanding customer experience and will share Horizon’s values by demonstrating respect, sound judgement,
personal accountability and a willingness to learn and continuously improve. You will understand the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion and be committed to ensuring customers are treated fairly and with dignity.
You will enjoy working collaboratively and have experience of building positive relationships with local authorities, voluntary organisations and other partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for customers. You will be organised, able to manage a varied workload and have access to personal transport, or an equivalent means of travelling, to meet the needs of the role.
In return, you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge through employee training and development. You can expect to work in a supportive, trusting and transparent environment, with the autonomy to offer creative and innovative solutions while maintaining Link’s values: Responsibility, Empathy, Social Impact, Participation, Equity, Challenge and Transparency.
