Physician Assistant x2
General Emergency – Oshawa.
Position: Temporary Full Time (12‑18 months).
Schedule: 8‑hour shifts days, evenings, weekends (subject to change).
Location: Oshawa.
Wage: $52.13–$70.70 per hour.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtain health and social histories.
- Conduct physical assessments and interpret findings.
- Activate medical directives and complete preliminary interpretations of diagnostic tests such as ECGs, laboratory tests, and imaging.
- Perform procedures: ECG, casting, suturing, application of orthopedic devices, slit lamp examination, measurement of intraocular pressure, visual acuity.
- Formulate treatment plans and support appropriate connections to consultants, allied health, outpatient clinics, and other services.
- Document patient encounters.
- Support physicians with health care technology and applications such as Connecting Ontario, the Clinical Information System, the Order Set repository, and bedside ultrasound.
Qualifications
- Registration in good standing as a Physician Assistant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
- Current membership in positive standing with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA) and/or NCCPA.
- Certification or eligibility for certification through the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) or the United States (NCCPA).
- Graduate of a MOHLTC‑approved program (Canadian Forces Physician Assistant Training Program,
Canadian or American Physician Assistant Training Program, or trained International Medical Graduate).
- Adaptable, with superior organization skills and the ability to work efficiently and prioritize multiple competing tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, make decisions, take initiative, and handle confidential patient information.
- Superior work ethic, professionalism, reliability, and commitment to outstanding customer/client service.
- Superior written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exposure to Lean principles and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health’s safety programs and practices.
