Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regulator (NSPR) on their search for a Data Engineer to join their team.
The NSPR is the regulatory body responsible for overseeing pharmacy professionals across Nova Scotia, ensuring safe, ethical, and high quality care for the public. NSPR's Research and Engagement team relies on strong data infrastructure and rigorous analysis to guide strategic, evidence-based decisions across all organizational functions, including registration, quality assurance, professional conduct, and policy..
Position Scope Reporting to the Director of Research and Engagement, the Data Engineer will act as the critical bridge between raw operational data and the strategic, evidence-based decisions that guide NSPR. The role combines Salesforce architecture with data engineering and quantitative research methods, transforming raw administrative data into statistically sound, meaningful insights.
Responsibilities Build, automate, and maintain ETL pipelines using Python, SQL, and Databricks, integrating data from source systems including Salesforce and Qualtrics
Establish and oversee Master Data Management (MDM) protocols to ensure data consistency and accuracy
Manage NSPR's cloud data warehouse within the Department of Health and Wellness's Health Cloud
Provide day-to-day Salesforce administration, including field mapping, configuration changes, and report generation, partnering with external developers on larger platform builds
Design, build, and maintain complex Salesforce reports and dashboards across multiple standard and custom objects
Design scalable data models and define KPIs to support regular reporting
Translate complex datasets into clear,
visually compelling insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Execute annual reporting in alignment with the Regulated Health Professions Act and Canadian Institutes for Health Information requirements
Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analyses to generate research briefs
Maintain strict adherence to data governance, privacy, and security standards
Position Requirements 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data analytics, or business insights
Demonstrated experience as a Data Engineer, BI Developer, or Quantitative Data Analyst
Strong grasp of BI principles, Master Data Management, data modeling, and quantitative research design
Exceptional ability to translate data into insights that drive business action
Solid organizational, project management, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a high degree of integrity
Assets Experience working in regulation, healthcare, or a related field
Understanding of the Salesforce ecosystem, including Salesforce certifications
Experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks
Hands-on coding experience with Python and advanced Excel
Formal training or working knowledge of quantitative research methodologies, biostatistics, or experimental design
Experience supporting or contributing to a data governance review or framework
