Project Overview
VINCI Construction Grands Projets Canada, a subsidiary of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and part of the VINCI Group, is hiring a Permit Coordinator to support the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Program. The project involves designing and building a new deep‑water intake in Lake Ontario, including an approximately 5 km long tunnel, two vertical shafts onshore and offshore, and an offshore modular intake structure, in close proximity to an active nuclear site.
Responsibilities
You will coordinate and manage the issuance and tracking of health and safety work permits for all site activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. You will work closely with project teams to anticipate permit needs and resolve issues efficiently.
- Manage the full process for issuing permits (hot work, excavation, ground disturbance, Log Out Tag Out, lifting, etc.) on BeSafe.
- Conduct regular audits of work permits and related documentation to ensure ongoing compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with Construction, H&S;, Quality, and Planning teams to anticipate upcoming permit needs.
- Review project documentation (drawings, diagrams, reports, contracts) to determine permit and approval requirements.
- Identify potential issues that could delay work and propose or implement mitigation measures.
- Act as a key interface between field teams and management, ensuring work is authorized, coordinated, and safely executed.
Qualifications
- Electrical or Mechanical trade background (electrical preferred due to work protection complexity).
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in supervisory or superintendent roles.
- Strong, hands‑on expertise in work permit systems and solid functional knowledge of HSE requirements.
- Experience managing permits on complex and high‑risk projects, ideally involving tunneling, major construction, confined spaces, or subaqueous environments.
- Proficiency with digitalized health & safety tracking systems, ensuring accurate documentation and digital monitoring.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders (subcontractors, construction, and client).
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and rigorous.
