Branion Williams Recruiting

Toronto

Our client, a well-established employment law boutique in the GTA North, is seeking a mid-level associate (approximately three to five years' call) to join its growing practice.

The firm has built a respected employment law practice representing both employees and employers, giving its lawyers exposure to a broad range of workplace disputes, advisory work, negotiations and litigation. The practice also includes select civil litigation matters, providing additional variety for lawyers who enjoy advocacy across related areas. While the firm's practice serves both sides of the workplace, the successful candidate's files are expected to be weighted toward employee-side matters. The firm is known for practical, client-focused advice and effective courtroom advocacy.

This on-site role is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer seeking high-quality employment litigation, direct client contact, meaningful responsibility and a sustainable practice model with realistic expectations and attractive earning potential. The firm offers a straightforward and generous compensation formula along with a very reasonable annual billable target of approximately 1,250 hours. Lawyers who wish to exceed that target will find that the work is available and that additional effort is rewarded accordingly.

The successful candidate will manage files with an appropriate degree of independence while working closely with an experienced practitioner who values practical solutions, responsiveness and excellent client service.

The office operates from a shared skilled workspace and offers a relaxed, down-to-earth environment where lawyers enjoy working together without unnecessary hierarchy or bureaucracy.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Approximately three to five years of litigation and employment law experience.
- Experience handling wrongful dismissal, human rights, employment standards and workplace-related litigation.
- Strong advocacy, drafting and client-management skills.
- The ability to manage files independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.
- Excellent judgment, organization and practice management skills.
