Operational Risk & Governance Analyst

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Duration: August 3, 2026 - April 30, 2027

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Rate: 35/hour + 4% Vacation Pay

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Currently 2 days onsite; subject to change. Candidates must be flexible.)

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is seeking a Process Analyst III to join the Wholesale Banking Governance & Controls team. This role supports critical Governance, Risk & Control initiatives, including Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), operational risk reporting, control testing, and executive-level governance reporting.

Key Responsibilities

- Support and enhance the Key Risk Indicator (KRI) program.
- Ensure adherence to Operational Risk Management (ORM) policies, standards, and governance requirements.
- Prepare and coordinate monthly and quarterly reporting, dashboards, and executive presentations.
- Support the Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program and related governance activities.
- Manage onboarding, maintenance, and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators.
- Respond to second-line review and challenge activities promptly.
- Assess KRIs and identify opportunities to strengthen risk measurement and reporting.
- Design and execute control testing programs to evaluate the effectiveness of key controls.
- Apply sampling methodologies in accordance with established testing guidelines.
- Conduct ongoing testing of key controls and compliance requirements.
- Analyze exceptions, identify root causes, and track remediation efforts through resolution.
- Partner with business stakeholders to develop corrective action plans for control deficiencies.
- Support remediation of documentation, process, and control gaps.
- Identify opportunities to improve controls, streamline processes, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Support ad hoc governance, risk, and control initiatives as required.




- Build and maintain strong working relationships across business and control functions.

Required Qualifications

- University degree required.
- 4-7+ years of relevant experience in:

Governance & Controls

Operational Risk

Internal Audit

Compliance

Risk Management

- Advanced knowledge of governance, risk, and control procedures, frameworks, and methodologies.
- Experience performing:

Audit testing

Control testing

Quality assurance reviews

Bank testing methodologies

- Strong experience with reporting, dashboarding, and data analysis.
- Proficiency with:

Microsoft Excel

PowerPoint

Word

Visio

- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
- Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership and executive audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Sound judgment and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

- Wholesale Banking experience.
- Banking or Financial Services experience.
- Experience supporting RCSA, KRI, or Operational Risk Management programs.
- Strong understanding of business processes and operational controls.
- Knowledge of current and emerging risk trends.
- Capital Markets experience.
- Experience using analytical and reporting tools.

Nice-to-Have

- Experience using Power Apps for dashboard review, workflow management, and reporting activities.
- Development or application-building experience is not required

- Learn new tools and processes quickly.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated banking workplace.

- This role sits within the Wholesale Banking Governance & Controls team.
- The primary focus is Governance, Risk, Controls, Reporting, and Testing.
- Candidates with primarily IT Analyst, Technical Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Technology-focused backgrounds will not be considered.
