Position Type: Full-Time, Hands-On Leadership
Position Summary
The Shop Foreman oversees the daily operations of our manufacturing facility, ensuring the efficient, high-quality, and timely production of custom conveyor belts. This is a hands-on, floor-based leadership role. You will work directly with shop personnel to solve daily manufacturing challenges, drive continuous improvement, and foster a strong team culture.
Your responsibilities will span production scheduling, hiring, purchasing, inventory management, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management
- Scheduling: Collaborate with department leads to plan, manage, and optimize weekly production schedules.
- Readiness: Verify all order components and raw materials are staged and ready before launching production.
- Daily Alignment: Establish and lead Daily Operational Reviews (DOR) with department leads to resolve scheduling conflicts.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase throughput and belt manufacturing quality.
- Safety & Quality: Enforce safety policies and ensure strict quality control across weaving, rod making, and welding operations.
- ERP Systems: Utilize Industrios ERP for production control and shop floor tracking; ensure all staff are properly trained on the system.
Team Leadership & Human Resources
- Talent Acquisition: Interview, hire, and onboard recent manufacturing personnel.
- Performance Management: Conduct performance evaluations, manage compensation reviews, and handle disciplinary actions.
- Supervision: Mentor and supervise staff to maintain high productivity and compliance with company policies.
Purchasing & Inventory Control
- Inventory Optimization: Partner with the General Manager to manage inventory levels, preventing shortages or overstock.
- Procurement: Utilize Industrios ERP to requisition purchase orders, production supplies, and employee PPE.
- Logistics: Ensure accurate order details for crating, packaging, and shipping readiness.
Engineering & Facility Maintenance
- Engineering Collaboration: Work with the Engineering Department on design requirements for custom orders.
- Preventative Maintenance: Develop, track, and execute a preventative maintenance schedule for all production machinery.
- Facility Care: Oversee building maintenance and requisition equipment upgrades as authorized.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: Proven management experience in manufacturing, preferably with steel wire products or related fabrication.
- Technical Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills for machinery and manufacturing processes.
- Systems Literacy: Hands-on experience using an ERP system (Industrios preferred) for production, purchasing, and inventory.
- Leadership: Demonstrated success in team-building, conflict resolution, and managing diverse production departments.
- Logistics Knowledge: Solid understanding of purchasing, inventory management, and supply chain logistics.
- Communication: Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Working Conditions
- Environment: Active, fast-paced plant environment with exposure to loud machinery and varying temperatures.
- Physical Demands: Hands-on role requiring physical stamina, including standing for extended periods, walking the floor, bending, and twisting.
- Schedule: Primarily standard business hours, with occasional flexibility required to meet production deadlines.
- Focus: Requires high attention to detail, mental concentration, and the ability to manage deadline-driven stress.
