Job Description: The Senior Social Worker is an experienced clinician who may provide supervision and coaching within acute care in the Women's and Children's Team, reporting directly to a Women's and Children's Team Manager. The position requires the use of high order knowledge, clinical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to assess and support clients and/or to coach, mentor, orientate and provide education to an assigned team in Women's and Children. Drawing on standards of practice for case management; professional codes of ethics; social work standards of practice in health care; program policy and procedures; and, relevant legislation, the senior social worker provides high quality client service and maintains qualified standards of practice.

Education
- Baccalaureate of Social Work degree
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in medical social work
Knowledge & Abilities
- Ability to provide counseling and therapy to individuals, couples and groups
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in recognized social work methodologies
- knowledge of concepts/strategies used to develop/deliver educational programming
- Ability to carry out duties in a manner that meets clients’ safety needs
- Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies
- Ability to establish working relationships with clients during times of distress
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Strong initiative and independent judgement to solve complex problems
- Ability to take large amount of complex information and convey it concisely
