Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager to provide strategic and operational HR leadership for a unionized manufacturing environment in Surrey, British Columbia. This role works closely with site and business leaders to strengthen employee relations, support workforce planning, and guide key people initiatives across multiple operations. The successful candidate will help advance a workplace culture centred on safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

- Provide both strategic advice and hands-on HR support to operational leaders across several locations, ensuring people practices align with business goals.
- Lead employee and labour relations matters by advising on workplace investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, performance concerns, and policy application.
- Work in partnership with labour relations teams to manage grievances, interpret collective agreements, support bargaining activities, and contribute to overall union strategies.
- Build constructive relationships with union representatives to encourage effective communication and productive labour-management outcomes.
- Oversee talent-related activities such as hiring support, onboarding, succession planning, employee development, and broader organizational effectiveness initiatives.
- Manage the performance review cycle by facilitating goal setting, coaching conversations, development planning, and annual evaluation processes.




- Administer compensation-related programs, including job assessments, salary adjustments, merit reviews, and incentive processes.
- Track HR data and prepare reports that help leaders make informed decisions and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Maintain compliance with employment standards, company policies, collective agreements, and workplace health and safety requirements.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, construction, or other operational settings.
- Demonstrated success working in a highly unionized environment with strong knowledge of collective agreement interpretation, grievance handling, workplace investigations, progressive discipline, and bargaining support.
- Solid understanding of Canadian employment legislation, labour relations principles, and policy administration.
- Experience contributing to talent management, succession planning, organizational development, and change-related initiatives.
- Solid leadership, coaching, negotiation, and communication abilities, with the confidence to advise operational stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and HR information systems, with exposure to enterprise HCM platforms considered beneficial.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly, up to approximately 40%, to support multiple business locations.
