The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) at Simon Fraser University (SFU) Vancouver encompasses the School for International Studies, the Department of Gerontology, the School of Public Policy, and the Urban Studies Program.
About the Role
The Coordinator, Academic Advising and Professional Development Services (CAAPDS) serves as a primary point of contact for prospective and current undergraduate students, providing comprehensive academic advising. Additionally, the Coordinator contributes to decision-making and strategic discussions regarding undergraduate programming and supports key strategic initiatives across the faculty.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience in post-secondary academic program administration, academic advising, student and alumni engagement, and planning; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion principles and practices; strong Emotional Intelligence.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, performing under pressure, and dealing with difficult individuals while maintaining composure.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at varying stages, to plan ahead by anticipating problems and to forecast outcomes.
- Excellent knowledge of post-secondary academic and professional development programming and advising.
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills, demonstrating a strong attention to detail.
