Overview:
This role plays a key part in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of rail equipment. The successful candidates will work closely with operations, engineering, and logistics teams, performing inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform scheduled inspections and unscheduled repairs on coaches and locomotives
- Conduct interior and exterior safety inspections
- Prepare equipment for dispatch and operation
- Carry out component replacements (brakes, actuators, wheels, etc.)
- Troubleshoot equipment faults and perform repairs using hand and power tools
- Support work order creation with accurate reporting
- Travel to outpost locations as needed

Ideal Candidate Profile:

- Candidates with direct rail experience and hands-on maintenance background (e.g., RCMs from VIA)
- Candidates with rail experience but limited hands-on exposure (e.g., CN/CP Hostlers, light maintenance roles)
- Candidates from automotive, construction, or trades backgrounds such as electricians (Red Seal certified preferred)
- Candidates from automotive, construction, or trades backgrounds such as electricians (non-Red Seal/apprentices)

Candidate Profile:

- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Valid Class G driver's license (mandatory)
- Solid communication and recordkeeping skills

Additional Details:

- Pay rate: $32.74/hour (increasing to $33.22 after 6 months probation)




- Shift premiums available (24/7 operation):
- Morning: 7:30 AM–4:00 PM / 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Afternoon: 3:30 PM–12:00 AM
- Night: 11:30 PM–8:00 AM

- Unionized role – shifts and locations assigned via bidding (new hires will have limited choice initially)
