Your Opportunity:

The Red Deer Protective Protected House is seeking a Registered Psychologist to provide assessment, intervention, supervision, and consultation for youth admitted to an involuntary withdrawal management and treatment facility. This role also offers clinical leadership and supervision to the Allied Health team. As a Psychologist I, you will complete comprehensive psychological assessments, including formal testing, and develop individualized treatment plans. You will deliver trauma‑informed, culturally safe interventions; offer consultation to multidisciplinary teams; and support ethical, evidence‑informed, client‑centered care tailored to each youth’s needs. Beyond direct clinical service, this role includes providing supervision, mentorship, and clinical guidance to Allied Health staff, fostering professional growth and best practices in service delivery. The ideal candidate demonstrates commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and self‑care. They are adaptable, innovative, and able to thrive in a dynamic clinical environment. Strong ethical practice, cultural humility, professionalism, and excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.



This position also collaborates provincially with youth addiction services colleagues to support quality improvement, consistency in practice, and ongoing skill development. Responsibilities include implementing and reviewing measurement‑based care across programs and ensuring fidelity and reliability of measurement at each site.

Description:

As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program,



policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with youth and families. Experience conducting comprehensive psychological assessments and psychological testing. Formal assessment competency is required to be declared as part of your competencies with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Demonstrated skill in delivering evidence-based interventions to youth and families. Demonstrated skills in clinical supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with youth and families in mental health and addiction settings. Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and trauma-informed care environments. Knowledge of culturally safe and inclusive practices when working with diverse populations. Experience working within an inpatient treatment environment is considered an asset.
