Purpose of Position:

The General Labourer supports the daily operations of the store by assisting with the sorting, processing, and preparation of donated goods. This role helps ensure items move efficiently from intake to the sales floor while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized workspace.

Working closely with the Production Supervisor and volunteer teams, the General Labourer supports production goals, assists with organizing merchandise, and contributes to a welcoming environment that reflects the mission and values of the organization. This role also includes occasional transportation duties to support donation pickups.

Key Responsibilities

- Sort, organize, and prepare donated items for processing and sale.
- Assist with pricing, tagging, and quality control of merchandise.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production and sorting area.
- Support volunteers with daily tasks and provide guidance when needed.
- Move, lift, and transport merchandise, including furniture, throughout the store and warehouse.
- Follow all safety procedures and store policies.
- Provide general support to the Production Supervisor to meet daily production targets.

Transportation Duties (Occasional):

- Operate a company truck and trailer to pick up donated goods from designated collection sites as required.
- Load and unload donations safely, ensuring proper handling of furniture and merchandise during transport.
- Conduct basic vehicle checks prior to use and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Ensure safe driving practices and compliance with all traffic laws and company policies.
- Represent the organization professionally when interacting with donors and community partners during pickups.

Qualifications





- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract required (must be insurable under company vehicle insurance).
- Ability to lift and move heavy items, including furniture.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends, if required.
- Experience towing a trailer is considered an asset
