We are seeking a skilled Structural Welder to join our fabrication and construction team. The ideal candidate will possess solid welding expertise and the ability to interpret blueprints. This role involves driving to job sites, fabricating, assembling, and installing miscellaneous and structural components with precision and safety in mind. The position offers opportunities to work on diverse projects, including miscellaneous metals, steel structures, and other heavy-duty applications, contributing to the successful completion of complex construction and manufacturing tasks.
Duties
- Perform MIG and stick welding on various structural steel components according to blueprints and schematics
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions
- Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment to shape and assemble materials
- Rigging materials and coordinate with crane operators for lifting heavy components safely
- Measure dimensions accurately using calipers, tape measures, and other measuring devices; perform basic math calculations for accurate fabrication
- Operate machining tools for cutting, shaping, or finishing metal parts as required
- Maintain quality standards by inspecting welds and finished assemblies for defects or inconsistencies
- Assist in the setup and calibration of equipment such as forklifts or cranes for material handling
- Follow safety protocols during all phases of fabrication and assembly to ensure a safe working environment
Skills
- Must have stick welding experience and be ready to pass the CWB all position stick weld test
- Proficiency in MIG welding techniques with demonstrated experience in structural applications
- Knowledge related to fabrication processes, machinery operation, and material handling
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
- Experience with torch cutting, hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Knowledge of rigging procedures and crane operation for lifting heavy materials safely
- Construction experience or background in manufacturing environments is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced settings while maintaining high safety standards
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations during fabrication tasks
