Applied Compression Systems has a strong focus on custom-designed and fabricated compressor packages for specialized applications in the oil, gas, petrochemical, alternative fuel, waste-to-energy, research, power generation, mining, and manufacturing industries.
Due to the nature of our business, the position of Mechanical Engineer is a highly dynamic and crucial role. It requires tight integration between our Projects Team, Mechanical Designers, Electrical Team, and the Shop Production/Fabrication Team. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) must be demonstrated, as you will serve as a vital link between our customers, vendors, and internal teams. With this position, there is the opportunity to be a part of the full design and build lifecycle, starting with project kickoff all the way to seeing a fully tested product get loaded onto a truck for shipment. Responsibilities Include:
- Support the Projects Team by acting as a technical point of contact to answer customer questions and provide engineering guidance.
- Review and approve piping designs, ensuring strict adherence to ASME B31.3 codes and standards.
- Review internal compressor designs and collaborate closely with the design/drafting team to optimize package layouts and resolve technical challenges.
- Evaluate and review vendor documentation to ensure components meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Manage Quality Assurance (QA) paperwork and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Actively participate in package testing on the shop floor to ensure mechanical functionality and performance.
- Close the loop with the design team by providing critical feedback from testing and fabrication to drive continuous improvement in future builds.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of ASME B31.3 piping codes.
- Experience in the design, packaging, or manufacturing of compressors, rotating equipment, or process skids is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret P&IDs;, general arrangement drawings, and technical specifications.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage documentation and QA requirements for multiple ongoing projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to mechanical testing and troubleshooting.
