Job type: Volunteer

Hours: Weekends/Weekdays (1-2 shifts per week)

Position Summary:

Act as a volunteer escort for visitors, answer visitor and patient enquiries, act as an advocate for those in waiting areas.

Responsibilities:

- Welcome patients, families, and visitors as they arrive at the hospital.
- Provide clear directions to hospital departments, clinics, and services.
- Escort patients or visitors to appointments, diagnostic areas, or waiting rooms as needed.
- Answer general questions about hospital services and amenities.
- Offer reassurance and comfort to individuals who may be anxious, stressed, or unfamiliar with the hospital.
- Act as an advocate for patients and visitors by alerting staff if someone requires assistance or special attention.
- Monitor waiting areas, ensuring individuals are comfortable and have what they need (water, tissues, wheelchairs if required).
- Assist with accessibility needs, such as locating elevators, wheelchairs, or appropriate seating.
- Direct visitors to amenities such as washrooms, cafeterias, or parking areas.
- Report any concerns, lost items, or safety issues to the appropriate hospital staff.

Qualifications:

- Age requirements – 16 and above
- Always maintain confidentiality, respect, and professionalism.
- A drive to succeed personally and to support team success.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others.
- Valuable organizational and multitasking skills
