- Work with The ABLE Network team in the development and implementation of our continuing education program which includes small group activities and 1:1 literacy coaching.
- Support our participants at a local recreation facility, to encourage their active participation in their individual and group fitness programs, safe use of equipment and healthy life choices.
- Support participants as they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to use community transportation so they can travel effectively and safely from place to place within the local community.
- Provide guidance to volunteers who support our life-skills/literacy, volunteering and recreation program.
- Provide job coaching to participants as they gain skills in work experience and employment.
- Provide ongoing support to our community partners (volunteer agencies, businesses, recreational facilities).
- Model The ABLE Network’s vision, mission and core values.
- Work effectively with program director,
program manager and other program facilitators to achieve The ABLE Network strategic direction.
Requirements:
- Post-Secondary education (minimum 2 year program) with preference to Developmental Service Worker, Social Service Worker or suitable bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Relevant experience in working with youth/adults with intellectual disabilities
- Relevant experience with providing positive behavioural supports
- A current CPR and First Aid certificate
- A team player
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written/computer communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Use of a personal vehicle is required for this job.
