Lach Klan

School is located in the village of Lax Klan, also known as Kitkatla, on

Dolphin Island, 60 kilometers south of Prince Rupert, BC. The Gitxaala, also

known as Git Lax Moon, people of the saltwater, are among the most ancient

societies on the Northwest Coast. The community has a population of

approximately 400 people. Health and wellness guide a variety of community

initiatives, often including Lach Klan School. Our school includes pre-school

through grade 12 and currently serves 75 students. The area is home to a wide

variety of animal and marine life, numerous islands, and breathtaking views.

This area is abundant with opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.

School seeks a full-time Vice-Principal, effective September 1, 2026. Interested

applicants who are members of, or eligible to become members of, the Teacher

Regulation Branch are invited to apply.

- Vice-Principal Responsibilities
- - - Leadership : Oversee day-to-day operations, establish vision and mission,

provide leadership and mentorship

- - Curriculum and

Administration

: Manage scheduling,

co-curricular activities, and emergency operations

- - Community Engagement : Build relationships with parents, teachers, staff, students, and

community members

- - Student Support : Assess educational and cultural needs, create individual

educational plans, support behavioral needs

- - Staff Evaluation : Evaluate staff performance based on various metrics

- Qualifications and Experience
- - - Education :



Minimum Masters degree in education or related field,
- - Qualification in primary

and secondary education and administration/policy

- - BC Teaching Certification
- - Experience : At least 8 years of teaching experience, curriculum development,

pedagogy, administration

- - Demonstrated level of

personal, professional, and organizational integrity and skilled in

project management

- - Skills: cross-cultural communication, leadership, teamwork, and

understanding of First Nations culture and history
