Commercial Liability Claims Adjuster (Intermediate)
Location: Hamilton
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days remote after 4–6 weeks full time in-office training)
Position Type: Permanent, Full time
Compensation: $70,000 - $95,000 Base (Depending on experience) + Annual Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Position Overview
Reporting directly to the VP of Commercial Claims, the Commercial Liability Claims Adjuster will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve moderate to high-complexity commercial liability and bodily injury (BI) claims. This intermediate-level role balances technical technical competence with exceptional stakeholder management, ensuring litigation-managed files are handled in a timely, fair, and cost-effective manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Claim Management: Investigate, analyze, and resolve complex commercial liability and BI claims within delegated financial authority.
- Investigation & Analysis: Conduct comprehensive loss investigations, evaluate coverage, assess liability, and build strategic roadmaps for file resolution.
- Financial Stewardship: Establish, document, and proactively manage accurate loss and expense reserves; identify subrogation and recovery opportunities.
- Litigation & Expert Management: Direct external legal counsel, independent adjusters, and third-party experts. Prepare detailed large-loss reports analyzing liability and damages.
- Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted point of contact for brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders, delivering consistent, high-tier customer service.
What You Bring
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive experience managing bodily injury claims, specifically including litigation-managed files.
- Education: Post-secondary education or equivalent related industry experience.
- Professional Designation: CIP designation is highly preferred (or currently/actively pursuing).
- Key Capabilities: Deep understanding of coverage analysis, liability assessment, and file management. Experience with mediations, pre-trials, and trials is highly valued.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with trucking/auto liability exposures is a strong asset.
- Core Skills: Exceptional negotiation, decision-making, and communication skills, with an innate ability to build collaborative relationships.
