Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and driven Mechanical Project Manager to join our Mechanical team in our Dundas office.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing mechanical engineering projects from inception to completion, with a primary focus on existing buildings. You will lead project delivery, provide technical guidance, and act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

KEY RESULT AREAS FOR THIS ROLE

Mechanical Engineering

- Provide technical expertise and leadership in the assessment, design, rehabilitation, and replacement of building mechanical systems. Projects may include HVAC systems, plumbing, domestic water, sanitary and storm systems, hydronic heating and cooling, ventilation systems, fire protection coordination, natural gas systems, and mechanical equipment serving commercial, institutional, municipal, and multi-residential buildings.
- Conduct condition assessments, field investigations, and performance evaluations of existing mechanical systems. Develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions that improve building performance, energy efficiency, reliability, and long-term asset value while meeting applicable codes, standards, and client objectives.

Project Management

- Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from planning through construction completion.
- Define project scope, prepare work plans, establish schedules and budgets, and manage project resources throughout the project lifecycle. Review and approve engineering deliverables to ensure technical quality and alignment with client requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Project Associates and junior staff in areas such as system design, equipment selection, specifications, tender preparation, contract administration, and construction review.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, architects, and other consultants, facilitating effective communication, resolving project challenges, and ensuring successful project execution.

Client Management and Development

- Build and maintain strong client relationships by acting as the trusted advisor throughout project delivery.
- Provide responsive communication, proactively identify client needs, and develop practical engineering solutions that support long-term building performance.
- Identify opportunities for future work through ongoing client engagement and contribute to the continued growth of Edison by developing lasting partnerships.

Revenue Generation

- Contribute to both short-term and long-term business growth by supporting proposal preparation, project planning, and client development activities.
- Manage project budgets, utilization, and financial performance to achieve profitability targets while maintaining a high standard of technical excellence and client service.

Qualifications

Knowledge





- Minimum 5+ years of mechanical engineering consulting experience, preferably focused on existing buildings.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience managing engineering projects.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility to obtain the designation.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, proposal preparation, contract administration, and client management.
- Experience managing projects from concept through construction completion, including developing scope, engineering design, technical specifications, tender documents, and construction administration.
- Strong technical knowledge of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, hydronic systems, ventilation, domestic water, sanitary and storm systems, mechanical equipment, and applicable building codes and standards.
- Experience conducting condition assessments, lifecycle evaluations, and mechanical system investigations for existing buildings.
- Experience preparing engineering reports, Building Condition Assessments, capital plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for mechanical rehabilitation projects.
- Experience coordinating with structural, electrical, architectural, and building envelope disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience working on a variety of facilities including multi-residential (condominiums), commercial, municipal, institutional, and community buildings.

Clearly convey complex technical information in reports, specifications, presentations, and day-to-day project coordination while actively listening to understand stakeholder needs.

Planning and Project Organization

Manage multiple projects simultaneously by developing detailed work plans, monitoring schedules and budgets, identifying risks,



and maintaining organized project documentation to ensure successful project delivery.

Collaboration and Coordination

Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams by coordinating with structural, electrical, architectural, and building envelope professionals, as well as contractors and clients, to achieve project objectives and resolve challenges efficiently.

Critical Thinking and Innovation

Apply analytical thinking, creativity, and engineering expertise to improve mechanical system performance, develop innovative rehabilitation strategies, and deliver practical solutions for existing buildings.

Adaptability and Accountability

Remain effective in a fast-paced consulting environment by adapting to changing priorities and project requirements while maintaining a high standard of quality, professionalism, and client service. Demonstrate ownership of project outcomes and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Compensation & Benefits

- Competitive Base Salary: $95,000–$115,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
