The Town of Blackfalds is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and community-minded FCSS Seniors Programmer to support the well-being, independence, and social participation of older adults in our community. If you are passionate about creating meaningful connections, developing engaging programs, and helping seniors access the supports they need, we would love to hear from you.
The FCSS Seniors Programmer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering programs, services, and resources that enhance the quality of life for seniors in Blackfalds. This position serves as a key resource for seniors and caregivers, provides information and referral services, and acts as the primary liaison between the Town of Blackfalds and the Blackfalds Seniors Club.
What You'll Do
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate seniors' programs, events, and initiatives.
- Support seniors through information, referral, and navigation services.
- Assist seniors with accessing housing resources, income supports, government programs, and online services.
- Develop partnerships with community organizations and senior-serving agencies.
- Plan and host educational workshops and information sessions.
- Coordinate seniors-focused events, including Seniors Week and other social, educational, and wellness activities.
- Support grant applications, reporting requirements, and program evaluation.
- Promote seniors' programs and services in collaboration with the Town's Marketing and Communications team.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the Blackfalds Seniors Club.
- Participate in Emergency Social Services (ESS) training and response activities as required.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Services,
Social Work, Recreation, Community Development, or a related field.
- One to three years of experience in human services, recreation, community development, or a related environment.
- Experience planning, coordinating, and facilitating programs or group activities.
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of seniors' issues, aging-in-place supports, and community resources.
- Experience providing client support, information and referral, or navigation assistance.
- Ability to work collaboratively with seniors, community organizations, and municipal staff.
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and acceptable Driver's Abstract.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support programs and events.

Hourly wage: $32.28 / hour - $36.20 / hour as per the CUPE Local 417 Collective Agreement .

Hours of work: This is a part-time position working 17.5 hours per week, with the possibility of varying schedules to meet operational requirements.
