Sheet Metal Apprentices & Journeypersons

Apprentice Duties
- Under the direction of a site foreman.
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair the sheet metal heating for ventilating and air conditioning systems.
- Perform other duties as required.
Journeyperson Duties
- Work under the direction of the assigned Site Foreman.
- Manage his/her assigned tasks, planning, and organizing materials.
- Installation of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
- Custom or small‑run fabrication of a variety of sheet metal items.
- Install and repair sheet metal products and ensure installations conform to specifications and building codes.
- Supply, install, service and repair air‑handling equipment, furnaces, fans, air terminal devices and split‑system air conditioners.
- Implement in‑house quality, safety and internal policy & procedures, standards and/or specifications.
- Mentor/train crew members.
- Perform other duties as required.
Apprentice Skills And Abilities
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Problem‑solving,
conflict‑resolution and critical thinking skills.
- Strength, stamina, and the use of proper lifting techniques required to handle heavy tools and parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to visualize a finished product from a document.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and do some moderately heavy lifting and carrying.
- Ability to work in high, awkward, and noisy places.
- Ability to work alone or with others.
- Detail‑oriented, good communicator, dependable.
- Physically fit.
Journeyperson Skills And Abilities
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Read and interpret blueprints, ability to visualize a finished product from a document.
- Leadership and strong communication skills.
- Problem‑solving, conflict‑resolution and critical thinking skills.
- Strong/productive organizational skills, delegation of labour hours.
- Technologically literate, i.e., moderately proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- High work ethic and dedication to the company and the client.
- Strength, stamina, and the use of proper lifting techniques required to handle heavy tools and parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Detail oriented.
Job Requirements
- Steel‑toed footwear.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License or access to transportation.
Wage to be determined based on school level and experience and will be discussed during the interview.
