About the Role

SAWW Developments is seeking an experienced Director of Estimating & Preconstruction to lead our estimating function while driving business growth across British Columbia.

This is a senior leadership role for an accomplished estimating professional with extensive experience working for established mid-sized general contractors in BC. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of preparing competitive estimates, securing profitable work, and leveraging an established network to source new opportunities.

We are seeking a candidate with experience pursuing projects through multiple procurement and project delivery approaches, including General Contracting, Construction Management, Design-Build, Public-Private Partnerships (P3), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).

This is not a project management role. The primary focus is estimating excellence, opportunity sourcing, and backlog growth.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead all estimating and preconstruction activities for commercial, institutional, healthcare, municipal, and interior construction projects.
- Prepare, review, and oversee accurate estimates, quantity take-offs, pricing, bid strategies, risk assessments, value engineering, and tender submissions.
- Source and pursue new project opportunities throughout British Columbia across public and private sectors.
- Develop relationships with owners, developers, architects, consultants, municipalities, health authorities, school districts, property managers, and commercial landlords.




- Identify opportunities through public tenders, negotiated work, and early project involvement.
- Expand the company's presence by introducing recent clients, procurement portals, bidding platforms, and strategic opportunities.
- Lead subcontractor solicitation, scope reviews, bid leveling, and negotiations.
- Mentor the estimating team and continuously improve estimating procedures and best practices.
- Monitor bid performance, win rates, market trends, and backlog growth.

Qualifications

- Minimum 15 years of estimating experience with established general contracting companies.
- Strong experience with commercial, institutional, healthcare, municipal, and interior construction projects.
- Proven experience pursuing work through General Contracting, Construction Management, Design-Build, P3, and IPD delivery methods.
- Established network of clients, consultants, architects, developers, and subcontractors within British Columbia.
- Demonstrated success sourcing project opportunities and contributing to company growth.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
