This role oversees multidisciplinary teams, manages large‑scale budgets, and ensures projects meet regulatory, safety and quality standards. The director acts as the primary contact for clients, stakeholders and regulatory authorities, driving cutting-edge solutions and technological advancement in airport infrastructure and operations.Position is in our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA) and involves collaborating with clients worldwide to design thriving and connected cities and communities that keep the world moving.AccountabilitiesLead, mentor and supervise engineering project teams to deliver airport infrastructure projects on schedule and within budget.Foster a culture of technical excellence, interoperability and continuous improvement across disciplines.Develop, manage and control project budgets, schedules and resources, applying robust risk management,
change control and performance monitoring throughout all project phases.Evaluate and implement emerging technologies and digital solutions to enhance engineering processes, drive sustainability and improve product quality.Ensure compliance with federal, provincial and local aviation regulations, as well as industry standards such as FAA and ICAO.Collaborate with regulatory agencies to secure necessary approvals and certifications.Develop strategic objectives, business plans and operational policies for the airport engineering function, building strong relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders.Champion best practices in safety, sustainability, digital information management and transformation, staying current on industry trends, technology advancements and regulatory changes.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline (required).Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) license (preferred).Minimum 12+ years’ experience in engineering leadership roles within the aviation sector, including delivery of large‑scale airport projects.Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary teams, complex budgets and project portfolios.In‑depth knowledge of aviation industry standards,
codes and federal regulations (FAA, ICAO, IATA).Experience implementing digital tools (e.G., BIM, GIS, project management platforms) in common data environments.Strong client‑facing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.Demonstrated ability to lead innovation, drive change and deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions with a culture of accountability.Excellent communication, organizational, problem‑solving, customer service and analytical skills.Why Arcadis?We empower everyone to do meaningful work and deliver sustainable solutions for a more prosperous planet.
