Technician/Designer, Electrical Apparatus – Substation and Power Plant

Join BBA Consultants as a Technician/Designer, where you will work with experts to design electrical rooms, cable racks, and substations for industrial clients.

Type of position

Regular, full‑time.

Your future role on our team

You’ll play a key role in engineering, selecting technology, and executing projects in the mining, energy, and heavy industry sectors.

Key responsibilities

- Participate in project conceptual studies.
- Actively participate in computer‑assisted design of 2D and 3D plans and in drafting specifications and details based on guidelines from a senior engineer or technician.
- Perform design calculations.
- Prepare lists of materials and bills of materials, installation specifications, and layout drawings in accordance with Hydro‑Québec standards.
- Perform technical information surveys.
- Monitor contractors on site.
- Help commission and troubleshoot systems.

Required qualifications and certifications

- Diploma of college studies (DCS) in Building Mechanics,



Electrical Engineering or Architecture or a diploma of vocational studies (DVS) in Building Design.
- Excellent knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
- Advanced English skills for collaboration with BBA offices and clients in English‑speaking Canadian provinces and internationally.
- Advanced French skills for collaboration with BBA offices and clients in Québec.
- Asset: Knowledge of the SmartPlant application.
