Position Summary

The Civil Superintendent oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of civil construction activities on project sites. This role ensures safe, productive, and timely delivery of civil work in line with project schedules, budgets, quality standards, contract requirements, and regulatory obligations. The Superintendent leads civil crews and subcontractors, coordinates with engineering and functional teams, and serves as the key on‑site representative for civil scope execution from construction through commissioning and turnover.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Supervise civil construction execution and ensure project delivery meets safety, quality, schedule, contractual, and financial targets.
- Support the development of Installation Work Packages and Inspection Test Plans.
- Participate in the development of civil subcontracts and scope definition.
- Direct and oversee subcontractor scope, sequencing, scheduling, installation, and logistics.
- Monitor subcontractor performance,



including productivity tracking and earned value.
- Provide technical support as required.
- Engage in preconstruction planning: constructability reviews, schedule development, material planning.
- Assist the pre‑construction team in budgeting and scheduling, ensuring constructability and scope integrity.
- Ensure compliance with EPC contract requirements.
- Maintain effective coordination and relationships with clients, partners, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Update and incorporate weekly schedule updates to ensure milestones are met.
- Provide daily progress reporting and schedule input to the project team.
- Resolve construction conflicts, technical issues, delays, and in‑field problems promptly.
- Promote and enforce safety and quality culture across all civil construction activities.
- Ensure civil installation practices comply with contract requirements, regulatory mandates, utility standards, and industry best practices.
- Manage day‑to‑day on‑site civil operations from Notice to Proceed through commissioning and turnover.
- Lead daily Plan‑of‑Day discussions and contribute to overall site coordination meetings.
- Support project closeout, including punch lists, testing documentation, and turnover packages.
- Ensure environmental conditions are met per SWMP, ECA, DFO approvals, and design parameters such as erosion control plans.
- Collaborate with Civil Sub, Site Superintendent, and Environmental personnel to remediate environmental non‑conformances.




- Control costs by minimizing waste and optimizing resource utilization.

Requirements & Qualifications

- 10 years of civil construction experience.
- 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
- Experience in energy, renewables, industrial, or utility electrical construction.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, drawings, standards, and installation practices.
- Previous EPC project experience is an asset.
- Willingness and ability to work on remote project sites for the duration of construction.
- Proven ability to lead crews and subcontractors effectively.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and safety leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital field tools.
- Open to relocation for future projects.

- Base salary $130,000 – $150,000, dependent on candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
