How You’ll Lead
Payroll Operations
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing across Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Quebec using Workday and ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Process and validate hire to retire payroll data including earnings, deductions, bonuses, commissions, and retroactive adjustments
- Execute payroll runs and ensure appropriate approvals and controls are in place
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation, including CRA and Revenu Québec requirements
- Prepare and remit payroll deductions including CPP, EI, income tax, QPP, QPIP, and CNESST
- Support year-end processing including T4s, RL-1s, and related filings
- Reconcile payroll reports to general ledger outputs and prepare payroll journal entries
- Maintain documentation and processes in alignment with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance and internal controls
- Responsible for the payroll taxation, reporting, and compliance of employee equity compensation programs, including stock options, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), Performance Share Units (PSUs), and other share-based awards.
- Ensures accurate withholding, payroll processing, tax reporting, and regulatory compliance across applicable jurisdictions while partnering with the Stock Plan Administrator
Benefits & Pension Administration
- Administer employee benefits and pension programs in collaboration with the team
- Coordinate with third-party providers to ensure accurate deductions and employer contributions
- Reconcile benefits and pension invoices and maintain accurate records
- Support employee inquiries related to payroll
People Operations & Systems
- Support Validate data integrity across Workday and ADP, ensuring accurate employee and payroll records support employee lifecycle transactions and system updates
- Run and analyze payroll and HR reports as required
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation across payroll and systems
- Effectively and responsibly use approved AI technologies to enhance productivity, improve decision-making, and support business objectives. Applies critical thinking to validate AI-generated outputs, protects confidential information, complies with organizational AI governance and privacy requirements, and continuously develops knowledge of emerging AI capabilities relevant to the role.
- Contribute to documentation, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives
Employee Support
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries with a strong focus on the employee experience
- Provide guidance to employees and internal stakeholders on payroll processes and policies
- Other duties and projects as assigned
What You Bring
- 5 - 7 years of Canadian payroll experience, including multi-province payroll (ON, BC, AB, QC required)
- Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll processing
- Hands-on experience with Workday and ADP Workforce Now payroll systems (required)
- Robust knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, tax and regulatory requirements
- Experience administering benefits and pension plans
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- High level of discretion handling confidential information Ability to manage multiple priorities in a, deadline-driven environment ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools
