Opportunity

EY has a well-established Climate Change and Sustainability practice that supports our clients' growing need for guidance in social and environmental sustainability, climate change, sustainable finance, and EHS. Our services include strategy and implementation, impact measurement, policy assessment, system management, and greenhouse gas verification.

As a Senior Manager in the Climate Change and Sustainability Services team, you will deliver high‑value, independent advice and help clients transition to a sustainable economy. The role spans many industries and focuses on creative, strategic outcomes both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager, you will lead complex EHS advisory engagements from early scoping through delivery, operating across strategy, assessment, and implementation mandates. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, structure problems, facilitate alignment, and translate technical EHS considerations into clear business impacts. The role offers exposure to diverse engagements that require solid collaboration across service lines and building client relationships, identifying expansion opportunities, and delivering high‑quality outputs. Regular travel across Canada (approximately 30‑40%) will be required.

Client Leadership

- Lead a team to deliver a variety of EHS consulting engagements, including strategy, culture transformation, system design, risk assessments, and audit programs.
- Structure complex and ambiguous client challenges into clear problem statements, hypotheses, and actionable recommendations.
- Lead and facilitate client meetings, drive discussions with senior executives, positioning EHS topics in a business context to support decision‑making.
- Oversee the development of high‑quality written deliverables and presentations aligned to client decision needs.
- Understand the client’s industry and recognize key performance drivers and emerging developments.

- Stay informed of general business developments and their impact on the client.
- Establish expectations of value to be delivered.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with client management throughout the year.
- Assist with overall client relationship, business development, and account management activities.
- Interaction with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders nationally and globally requires fluency in French and English; bilingualism is therefore a requirement.

Team Leadership

- Lead cross‑functional/matrix teams to ensure timely, accurate, and effective implementation of engagements.
- Delegate work successfully; provide hands‑on coaching in technical EHS knowledge and consulting skillsets, conduct performance reviews, and provide feedback.
- Build capability across team members in technical EHS knowledge and consulting skillsets.
- Demonstrate exceptional project management and communication skills.
- Utilize technology and resources to continually learn, share knowledge, and enhance service delivery.
- Maintain awareness of emerging AI and digital tools, applying them to improve analysis and delivery efficiency.
- Maintain a personal educational program for continuous skill development.
- Develop long‑term relationships and networks both internally and externally.
- Generate new business opportunities through team collaboration and networks.
- Demonstrate initiative and ownership in driving outcomes in complex, evolving environments.
- Exhibit energetic, passionate, and entrepreneurial spirit.
- Show dedication to teamwork and leadership.

- Possess advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

To qualify for the role, you must have

- University degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or Environmental Management.
- 12‑18+ years of consulting, project management, or industry experience focused on EHS risks and opportunities, covering strategy, system design, process improvement, and reporting.
- At least two of the following areas of expertise: environment, occupational health & safety, industrial hygiene, or operational risk.
- Experience leading complex, multi‑stream engagements with senior stakeholder interaction.
- Experience supporting or contributing to proposal development, scoping, or pricing discussions.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with or supporting implementation of EHS/IT platforms such as ServiceNow, Cority, SAP, Intelex, Enablon, or Sphera.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive compensation package that is performance‑based, a comprehensive benefits program, a defined contribution pension plan, a generous vacation policy, and various programs to support physical, financial, and social well‑being.

- Support and coaching from engaging colleagues.
- Learning opportunities to develop new skills and progress your career.
- The freedom and flexibility to handle your role in a way that’s right for you.

Salary

Toronto: $125,000 to $175,000
